CALL TO ORDER
At 8:03 a.m. Steve Piasecki called the meeting to order in Conference Room A, 10300
Torre Avenue, Cupertino.

OLD BUSINESS
A.
Key Development Activity
Steve Piasecki reviewed the current activity with the committee. He also
informed the committee that Extended Stay has filed an application to build on the
Santa Barbara Grill site.
B.
Sign Ordinance Proposal Update
The City Attorney has drafted text for the update. Steve Piasecki stated that the
draft would be reviewed and brought to City Council in January,

NEW BUSINESS
A.
Vallco Update
Mike Rohde gave an update on each of the three anchor stores. He stated that
Penney's has been a very strong anchor with sales up across the country, Sears is
adding Lands End products and is renovating the lower level, and Macy's is
having a difficult time throughout the Western United States. He indicated that
the occupancy rate is 82.6% on the upper level and 69% overall with most tenants
committing to one year leases. He stated that less than 20 units are vacant on the
upper level and that he is optimistic that the extended holiday hours, local events
and school shows will help the mall during the holidays.

B.
Business Retention! Attraction Program
Richard Lowenthal indicated that he would like to receive more information with
respect to businesses moving to or out of Cupertino. He suggested that he would
like to see the committee be more effective in the business community. The
committee suggested that the meetings could be more effective by having guest
speakers attend each meeting and to add an additional item to the agenda
regarding businesses locating to or leaving Cupertino. The committee also
expressed interest in having articles appear in the Cupertino Scene explaining the
issues related to Valko, Steve Piasecki stated that the Planning Department will
look into providing some type of report showing which businesses are coming
into or out of Cupertino,
