EDC 04-16-97 City of Cupertino Economic Development Committee Regular Meeting April 16, 1997 1. CALL TO ORDER At 7:40 a.m. Carol Atwood called the meeting to order in Conference Room A of Cupertino City Hall, 10300 Torre Avenue, Cupertino. 2. ROLL CALL City Staff: Carol Atwood, Bob Cowan, Don Brown, Dorothy Steenfott, Bert Viskovich Councilmembers: Wally Dean Chamber of Commerce: John Statton, Donna Lawler Absent: John Bautista, Steve Dowling, Tom Hall, Lauralee Sorensen, George Steele 3. NEW BUSINESS A. Economic Summit Final Planning Carol Atwood reviewed the agenda and facilitator responsibilities for the summit. The group was advised to approach the subject of Vall co with caution. Don Brown will give a brief background information for each of the discussion questions during the overview. 2. OLD BUSINESS A. Progress Report of On-Street Parking - Fontana's Restaurant Bob Cowan reported that he is scheduling a meeting with Alex Byer during the next two weeks to discuss possible solutions. John Statton stated that he had not heard anything new from Murry Horton or Alan Moll. B. Site Visits Site visit selections were made for McWhorter's, Measurex, Sears. Whole Foods, Footlocker, MicroModule, Black and White Desktop Publishing, and Hewlett Packard. Committee members responsible for these visits will be making appointments and updating the group at the next regular meeting. April 16, 1997 Economic Development Committee Page 2 3. MISCELLANEOUS COMMITTEE UPDATES It was reported that DeAnza College has revised their brochures on training and has tailored the training to better meet the needs of businesses in the community. Meetings with the graphic designer are underway and a first draft of the economic development brochure is expected to be ready in June. 4. ADJOURNMENT At 8:21 a.m. the meeting was adjourned to 8:00 a.m., April 29, Quinlan Community Center. 10185 N. Stelling Road, Cupertino.
