City of Cupertino Economic Development Committee Regular Meeting January 20,1999 CALL TO ORDER At 7:35 a.m. Don Brown called the meeting to order in Conference Room A, Cupertino City Hall, 10300 Torre Avenue. 2. ROLL CALL City Staff: Don Brown, Bob Cowan, Steve Dowling, Dorothy Steenfott, Bert Viskovich Chamber: Linda Asbury, Paula Davis, Bill Jones, Donna Lawler City Council: Sandra James, John Statton Absent: Carol Atwood 3. NEW BUSINESS A. B. C. D. Valleo Redevelopment Analysis Don Brown reported that a draft report of phase one has been completed. The purpose of the report was to determine if redevelopment is an option. Phase one was paid for by the Jacobs Group and the city is awaiting a decision from them as to whether they want to continue with a redevelopment project. Vallco Merchant Group Linda Asbury reported that she had spoken to Kevin McClelland from TGI's. She stated that Kevin is scheduling a meeting with the major merchants and Captain Bob Wilson before starting regular meetings with the entire merchant group. Shopping Center Occupancy Rates Linda Asbury distributed information she received from the shopping centers regarding their occupancy rates. Public Relations Program for Projects to Date Don Brown updated the committee on the economic development outreach program. A sign up sheet was distributed for the following service clubs: January 14 February 2 TBA March 24 April July Leadership Cupertino Kiwanas Rotary Optimist Chamber Brown Bag Asian Council Atwood/Jones James/Jones Atwood Atwood Asbury/Jones Brown The committee also discussed the possibility of doing feature news articles on a specific business or new businesses starting in Cupertino.
