EDC 03-15-00 City of Cupertino Economic Development Committee Regular Meeting March 15,2000 1. CALL TO ORDER At 7:35 a.m., Carol Atwood called the meeting to order in Conference Room A, Cupertino City Hall, 10300 Torre Avenue. 2. ROLLCALL City Staff: Carol Atwood, Steve Piasecki, Bert Viskovich Chamber: Linda Asbury, Paula Davis City Council: Sandra James, Richard Lowenthal Absent: Don Brown, Steve Dowling, Bill Jones, Dorothy Steenfott, Bill Sullivan Guests: Wayne Okubo (Evershine), Todd Lee (Evershine) 3. OLD BUSINESS A. Cupertino Appreciation Night Carol Atwood distributed the San Jose Giants flyer and promotion plan. The Flint Center will be added as a ticket distribution point and a request will be made for San Jose Water and TCI to advertise the event with their monthly bills. B. Shopping Center Incentive Program Steve Piasecki provided a summary of current activity at the Marketplace. Corporate office space will replace the previous market. A revised landscape and parking plan will be submitted within the next two weeks. Respresentatives from the Evershine Group stated that the city has been through more than 40 plans for the center and suggested Steve Piasecki, Wayne Kubo and Todd Yee meet with on March 22. A status report will be provided in one month. Steve also reviewed the development status activity for Andronicos. The theater lease and the request to add a pedestrian walkway on Mary Avenue were discussed. Richard Lowenthal requested that we develop a formal retail master plan stating what retail mix we want to retain/attract. It was suggested that this could be a topic for an economic summit and be added to the 2000/01 goals. In addition, we should maintain an updated list of available space to enhance the marketability of a retail target base and provide a fast track of approvals for these businesses. MISCELLANEOUS COMMITTEE UPDATES The Chamber's Legislative Action Council will review modification requests to the city's sign ordinance on April 7. 5.
