CALL TO ORDER
At 3:05 a.m., Carol Atwood called the meeting to order at 10300 Torre Avenue, Conference
Room A, Cupertino.

OLD BUSINESS
A.
Sales Tax Retention Activity Agenda
Carol Atwood reviewed suggestions from the sales tax consultants regarding
retention strategies with the committee. The following items were suggested: 1)
visit the top 10 sales tax producers twice a year (four times a year for Apple
Computer); 2) hold an appreciation lunch or breakfast; and 3) present council
proclamations and recognition to businesses that have upgraded their facilities or
have done outreach efforts in the community.
The committee decided to give plaques and gift baskets during site visits and to ask
businesses if they would be interested in attending an appreciation breakfast with a
speaker and short video of what each company is doing in the community.
The committee decided to start council proclamations immediately.

We Value Youth Update
Richard Lowenthal stated that the committee is chaired by members of the Teen
Commission and that they meet once a week. He also stated that an ad hoc
committee was formed and is currently working a proposal to increase the score on
the next Cornerstone survey for asset number seven.
