EDC 06-19-02 City of Cupertino Economic Development Committee Regular Meeting June 19,2002 1. CALL TO ORDER At 8 :07 a.m. Carol Atwood called the meeting to order in Conference Room A, 10300 Torre Avenue, Cupertino. 2. ROLL CALL City Staff: Carol Atwood, David Knapp, Ralph Qualls, Dorothy Steenfott, Ciddy Wordell Chamber: Keith Dias City Council: Sandra James, Richard Lowenthal Absent: Jody Hansen, Bill Jones, Orrin Mahoney, Steve Piasecki 3. OLD BUSINESS A. Key Development Activity Ciddy Wordell updated the committee on current development activity. Ralph Qualls reported on the status of the library project. It is expected that bids will occur for the project by May 2003 and the library should be open by October 2004. B. Outreach Action Plan Carol Atwood distributed the schedule to the committee. She requested that at least one member of city staffbe present at each of the outreach meetings to accommodate any additional information to assist chamber or council members during the visit. 4. NEW BUSINESS A. Cupertino Appreciation Day The committee discussed possible candidates to sing the national anthem and throw out the first pitch. Sandra James will try to arrange for a choir from one of the schools to sing the national anthem and Richard Lowenthal will arrange for someone to throw out the first pitch. June 19,2002 Economic Development Committee Page 2 B. Chamber Project Status Report Carol distributed the chamber's report. She stated she will prepare a letter to notify art and wine event coordinators that the city will be charging vendors for a business license in 2003. 5. ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned at 9:30 a.m.
