Staff Presentation: Gary Chao, Assistant Planner, briefly described the project. On
April 21, 2004, the Committee gave the applicant some direction and the applicant has
addressed those concerns. Regarding privacy protection on the side yard, the applicant
spoke to the neighbor and the neighbor has agreed to sign a privacy protection waiver.
The applicant is also proposing an additional tree along the back property line to
further mitigate privacy impacts. Staff recommends approval.
Larry Fu, applicant, stated that Mr. Chao did a great job and the changes have been
made.
Mr. Chao stated that with the changes that have been made, the previous exception
request is no longer needed.

Residential Design Review for a new two-story, 4,411 square foot residence.
Design Review Committee decision final unless appealed
Staff Presentation: Gary Chao, Assistant Planner, briefly described the project. Larry
Cannon, Architectural Consultant, and staff have reviewed the plans and with the
applicant's changes, staff recommends approval.
Anthony Ho, applicant, stated that he has worked closely with the Architectural
Consultant. Mr. Ho explained to any neighbors that the garage and the stairs is counted
towards the total square footage number and the stairs were counted twice.
Karyn Marxmiller, 20626 Scofield Drive, opposed the building based on size alone.
Mter learning that the home meets the R1 restrictions, she was fine. The homes across
the street were very large and do not have the same setbacks as the applicant's structure
proposes.

Mr. Wong showed and explained the plan set to Ms. Marxmiller. Discussion continued
regarding square footage.
Jim Marxmiller, 20626 Scofield Drive, stated that the story poles are very confusing. He
would like to see a picture of the proposed home on the property. Mter getting a better
idea of the proposed home, his fears have been alleviated.
Discussion continued regarding privacy protection planting.

Staff Presentation: Gary Chao, Assistant Planner, briefly described the project. Larry
Cannon, Architectural Consultant, and staff have reviewed the plans and recommend
approval.
Thuyen Q. Nguyenphuc, Architect, stated that the preliminary privacy protection plan
is in the plan set.
Mr. Wong asked about the column size and lowered master bedroom roof 12 inches.
Mr. Chao stated that those were responses to the Architectural Consultant's comments
to help reduce mass and bulk. Mr. Wong was concerned with covering of the turret and
the lowered master bedroom roof.
Discussion continued regarding the tower element.

Commissioner Miller moved to approve R-2004-13 with the one exception
that the requirement that the turret being closed by a roof element be
deleted.
