Staff Presentation: Peter Gilli, Senior Planner, briefly explained that the applicant
would rather not apply for a deck exception even though it was shown on the plan.

Staff Presentation: Gary Chao, Assistant Planner, briefly described the project. Staff
and Larry Cannon, Architectural Consultant, have worked with the applicant and have
recommended approval.
Discussion continued about the location and design of the two signs.
Haleh Mousavi, Arc Inc. Architects, further explained the height and size of the signs.

Staff Presentation: Colin Jung, Senior Planner, briefly described the project. Privacy
trees will be planted to screen views.
Discussion continued regarding the second story deck.
Mr. Maheswaran, owner, stated that the deck meets the setback rules. He also stated
that there are already privacy protection trees in place due to the existing window. He
feels that there are already enough trees planted.
Susan Barker, neighbor, stated that the existing foliage are bushes, not trees, because
she planted them. She hopes to see big new bushes planted on the neighbor's side.

Excpetion to the single-story building envelope for a proposed 4,344 square foot
single-story residence.
Design Review Committee decision final unless appealed.
Staff Presentation: Peter Gilli, Senior Planner, briefly described the project and
explained that the only change on the plans is that the applicant has reduced the plate
height from 10 feet to 8 feet in an effort to reduce the exception. Staff is supportive of
the project due to the unique terrain and recommended approval.
Discussion continued regarding the reduced plate height and the possibility of flooding.
The proposed project is above the flood level.
Cheryl Ching, applicant, stated that if she did have to change the roofline she would
prefer the look of keeping to the original plan.
Discussion continued regarding the exception and the findings for an exception.

an exception to the single-story building envelope.
Design Review Committee decision final unless appealed.
Staff Presentation: Peter Gilli, Senior Planner, briefly described the project and the
reason for the exception. Staff recommended approval based on the plan set.
Discussion continued regarding setbacks in the existing neighborhood.
Frankie Law, applicant, stated that he followed the planning department's
recommendations and the guidelines. Mr. Wong asked if the house could be moved
over 5 feet for more setbacks on the right hand side for the fireplace. Mr. Law stated
that he was happy with the existing plan.
Mr. Wong stated that he supports the project however he does not want this to become
a precedent. Mr. Saadati supports the project.
