CC Resolution No. 01-187RESOLUTION NO. 01-187 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CUPERTINO IN SUPPORT OF THE BAY AREA SPORTS ORGANIZING COMMITTEE BID TO BRING THE 2012 OLYMPIC GAMES TO THE BAY AREA. WHEREAS, there has been presented to the City Council a report describing the Bay Area Sports Organizing Committee (BASOC) bid to bring the 2012 Olympic Games to the Bay Area; and WHEREAS, this premier sporting event would bring significant economic and social benefit to the City of Cupertino and the region; and WHEREAS, the San Francisco Bay Area is in excellent position to be chosen as the United States candidate city due to the world-renowned city of San Francisco, as the home of Silicon Valley, the existence of world class sports facilities and universities, the active support of the Northern Califomia Olympians Alumni Chapter, and ideal weather conditions. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Cupertino City Council enthusiastically endorses and supports the efforts of BASOC to bring the 2012 Olympic Games to the San Francisco Bay Area.
