A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CUPERTINO APPROVING REQUEST 1,ROM CHIEF OF POLICE FOR USE
OF THE CITIZENS' OPTION FOR PUBLIC
SAFETY (COPS) PROGRAM FUNDS OF $100,000
WHEREAS, the State Department of Finance has allocated Citizens Option for
Public Safety (COPS) grants for front line law enforcement purposes to cities and
counties, in proportion to their respective populations, with a minimum of$100,000 per
jurisdiction; and
WHEREAS, the State has determined that the City of Cupertino should receive
the minimum $100,000 allocation for fiscal yee r 2013-14; and
WHEREAS, cities are required to appropriate COPS revenues to fund front line
municipal police services which can include anti-gang and community crime
prevention programs; and
WHEREAS, these funds are to be ap_,aropriated pursuant to a written request
from the Chief of Police or the Chief Administrator of the law enforcement agency that
provides police services for that city; and
WHEREAS, the Captain of the Sheriff's Office, West Valley Division, in his role
as Chief of Police, has requested that the COPS funds be used to partially fund a second
School Resource Officer.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Cupertino hereby approves the Chief of Police's request for the expenditure of COPS
funds.

Cupertino this 191'' day of November 2013, by the following vote:
