TUP-2013-04b CITY OF CUPERTINO 10300 Torre Avenue, Cupertino, California 95014 (408) 777-3308 To: Mayor and City Council members Chairman and Planning Commissioners From: Aarti Shrivastava, Director of Community Development Prepared by: Stephen Rose, Associate Planner — Date: September 16, 2013 Subject: Director's Temporary Use Permit, TUP-2013-04 to allow an AT&T COW (cell on wheels) facility for a period of one year at 19050 Pruneridge Avenue (Apple); APN: 316-06-033, to allow time to identify and permit another permanent cell site. Chapter 19.12.030 of the Cupertino Municipal Code allows for administrative approval of a temporary use permit, authorizing the use of a site in any zoning district for a temporary use. The Director reports his/her decision to the City Council & Planning Commission in time to allow an appeal of the decision within fourteen calendar days. DISCUSSION The applicant, jason Osborne (Osborne & Associates, LLC), on behalf of AT&T, is requesting approval to allow the installation of a temporary unmanned wireless cell facility, COW (cell on wheels), for a period of one year in the parking lot of the subject Apple owned property. The temporary facility is needed as Apple will be demolishing (as part of the Apple Campus 2 project) the building upon which the existing cell tower is located. The proposed facility will prevent any interruption in cellular service while AT&T works on identifying and permitting a new permanent cell site. Location The subject property is an existing office building occupied by Apple, bounded by Pruneridge Avenue to the north, N. Tantau to the east, and other Apple office buildings to the south and west. TUP-2013-04 19050 Pruneridge Avenue Temporary COW Page 2 -' r---,'"r,,, y .._,.—__ _— }.2 v'•. _._'..
