lust some notes regarding the item on signage for the Veterans Memorial on tonight's agenda.
Dave has indicated that it is not necessary for us to be there tonight but I thought I would
send you some information:
We have had temporary signage asking people to respect the Memorial by keeping their roller
blades, skate boards and scooters, etc. outside the
memorial for many months since the Veterans Day observance. We have never
had any complaints. The City of Cupertino temporary signage has not precipitated any
complaints directed to our website or individual e-mails.
Paul Lettieri, our Veterans Memorial designer is willing to design and we will produce the
signage to match the Veterans Memorial if it is the desire of the City of Cupertino. Ralph
Qualls is aware of this offer and is in contact with our Project Manager, Tim Black. We will,
of course, bring back to the City Council the final design if that is your desire.
The Veterans Memorial will be open to the public for private observations this Memorial Day.
The MIA/POW flag is flying and there will be flowers placed on the Memorial.
We will come before you in the next few months with an update and report on the August golf
tournament, continuing fundraising and the 2008 Veterans Memorial Ceremony. Pavers are still
available for purchase and forms are available at the Veterans Memorial and on our website at
www.cupertinoveteransmemorial.org Thank you again for your continued support; we have
visitors every day to the site!
Sandy James, President
Cupertino Veterans Memorial, Inc.
