Shrivastava walked EDC members through the New Activity Summary Matrix
and the Development Activity Report by highlighting the following projects:
Main Street, Rosebowl, Homestead Square, Cupertino Crossroads, Bay Club,
Apple Campus 2 and Cafeteria, Aloft Cupertino Hotel, Biltmore Adjacency,
Bollinger Road and Rainbow Drive Subdivisions. Shrivastava also summarized
the CBRE MarketView Report statistics noting very low vacancy rates and
increasing demand for office and R&D space.
McClelland described the Chamber's role in supporting the City with its services
in the absence of a stronger Economic Development presence, via the Economic
Development Manager position vacancy. This included a recent Chamber-
hosted meeting with the developer community and suggestion to consider
establishing an incubator/collaborative workspace in Cupertino. The Chamber
offered to organize site visits to relevant local collaborative workspaces to learn
more about these organization's operations, functions and facility requirements.
Following Council direction from its February 7th meeting to move forward with
the Economic Development Manager position by soliciting feedback on the
position, the Economic Development Committee discussed and unanimously
recommended moving forward with the hiring process for the Economic
Development Manager position. To facilitate this, a job description will be
circulated to Council Members and the Chamber to solicit feedback on the roles
and responsibilities of the position. The target date to post the announcement is
Friday, March 30th. As such, the Community Development Department requests
feedback on the position description by all stakeholders by Monday, March 26th.
