Dear Mr. Lin,
After the site visit and checking into the existing conditions at the location in the garage where
the new furnace is going to be located, I found that cutting a 18"X18"hole in the foundation
stem wall to facilitate new ducting will not of fect the structural integrity of the structure.
The footing at the location in question is only supporting the raised floor at the living area side
and the wall itself between the garage and the living area, no roof load is being supported by the
footing. The roof framing above is parallel to the wall and footing. Double 2X6 is to be added
over this new opening to support the floor joi3t that is directly supported over the opening, see
attached details for new framing at the opening.
