WHEREAS, the Santa Clara Valley Water Conservation
District's continued work since 1929 has been a major factor in economic
growth and prosperity of this area; and
WHEREAS, the Santa Clara Valley Water Conservation
District has anticipated the water requirements of this area and has acted
with foresight, constructing carefully planned facilities to conserve water
to the general benefit of the entire Valley; and
WHEREAS, this skill and experience, developed through
30 years of successful operation in c water, continues to be
employed by the District in the solution of present water problems; and
WHEREAS, the City o:' Cupertino, working in close coopera-
tion with the Santa Clara Valley Water Conservation District toward the
solution of local water problems, is fully confident that the Santa Clara
Valley Water Conservation District is the agency best suited to such work:
NOW BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Cupertino does
hereby reject the proposal presently advanced in the California Legislature
by Assemblyman Bruce F. Allen that our local water conservation district
be dissolved and its functions transferred to the Board of Supervisors of
