SUBJECT' EQUITY PAY AAJUSTi~i7TS
, Salary surveys were conducted for all benchmark classifications. Two
classification within the management series were found to be paid more than
' two and one half percent (2 1/2e) less than the median of those surveyed:
' Public Works Supervisor and administra~ive Services Officer. The secretarial
series and the paraprofessional engineers were also found to be underpaid
for equivalent positions elsewhere.
~I
In the case of the Receptionist, I am recommending that che differential
i between the benchmark class, Clerk Typist he ceduced from 12.5°: to 10% based
~ on increased typing responsibili[ies as well as market place comparisons.
~
~ In order to bring the classifications in line j am recommending salary increases
for the following positions by the percentage amount indicated to the right:
Secretary to the City 'tanager 2.5~
Secretary (General Government) 2.5%
Secretary (Planning)
Secretary (Pub11c Works) 2.5X
Secretary tBuilding} 2,5~
Secretary (Parks and Recreation) 2.57,
Senior Clerk Stenographer ?.5~
Public Works Supervisor 3.5%
Personnel Technician ~•5%
i Senior Engineering Technician 4.0%
Engineering Technician y•~%
~ Traffic Technician 4,0%
~ Engineering Aide 4,0~
Administrative Services Officer 4.Ory
Recep[ionist Z•57
' I am also recommending the reclassificacion of the Cashier-Clerk at the Parks
and Recreation Department to CLerk Yypist. Yhis position provide~ ~lerical
backup for the department which demands typing skills. The Cashier-C,lerk
position is in the accounting series and dnea not require tvoing. The reclaesi-
fication would result in a 2.5o salary ad,justment; would more clearly refiect
the duties being performed; and would be consistant with equal pay for equal
work concepts.
A[tached you will find a worksheet that illustrates the cast of the reclassi-
fication and the equity adjus~ments.
