A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CUPERTINO
AMENDINC POLICY NUMBER 10 (:70. 10) OF THE "Ir1NAGEMENT
COMPENSaTION PROGRAM
WEiEREAS, by previous action of the City Council [here had been added to the
previously existing personalized compensation of fif[y-six dollars ($56.00) per
month an additional Cwenty-four dollars ($24.00) per month effective July 1, 1978;
and,
WE[EREAS, it is desirable to have such action ratified formallv in resolution
form;
hOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVID, that the City Council of the City of Cunertino
does hereby amend Policy Number 10 of the Management Compensation Program to pro-
vide for personalized co~pensation for designated management emnloyees to be at the
~ rate of eigh[y dollars ($80.00) per month efiective July 1, 1978.
I~ BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that in the event the City is unable to establish a
July 1, 1978, effective date the amount of increase will be placed in a Trust and
' ~gency fund to [he account of each employee and will be credited with interest
' earned until such time as disbursement may be permitted.

MANAGEMENT COMPENSaTION PROGRAM
Policy No. 10
PERSONALIZED COMPENS.ITION
Recognizing the individual preferences and uniqueness of each employee
covered by the Management Compensation Program, it is the policy of the City
~ of Cupertino to provide a certain sum per month that may be applied to the
credit of eligible employees in [he form and manner preferred by each employee.
This program of personalized and flexible compensation resul[s from the need to
maintain parity with the competi[ive labor market and to assure that internal
pay relationships are not distorted between management employees and employees
i bargaining over conditions of employment, while recognizing the advantages of
I tailoring compensation to the variety of individual circumstance.
Each employee designated as management by the Appoittting Authority shall
receive paymen[ or equivalent direct compensation for services performed in the
amount of eighty dollars ($80.00) per month, which shall be provided in that
form and manner selected by each employee which is consistent with the legal
restraints placed upon the City, the administra[ive limitations of the personnel
program and the administrative rules and guidelines set forth by the City
Manager to administer this policy.
The compensation provided through this policy is not intended to substitute
for [he base monthly salary provided by the pay plan, but as a supplemental
benefit comprising a portion of the total compensation. It may be utilized to
supplement City contributions towards group insurance premiums or other City-
sponsored benefit plans, to provide additional training or development of
principal benefit to the individual, or in such other combinations of the fore-
going or other varieties of compensation, including direct payment after
withholdings, as best serves each management employee's circumstance.
All expenditures and transactions made pursuant co this policy are sub,ject
to the prior approval of [he City Manager or his designated representative.
