City business. In many instances the use of personal vehicles is a I condition of employment due to the abaence of sufficient City owned vehicles for ; general transportation purposes. It is not intended, however, that such a condition of employment should work an undue hardship. For this reason the Eollowing policies shall apply for automobile allowances and mileage reimbursements. I For those persons who occasionally are required to use their personal automobiles for City business shall be reimbursed for such use at the rate of seventeen (17~) cents per mile on the submission of a request approved by the I department head. For those persons who are required to use their personal automobiles for City business on a recurring and often basis shall, with the approval of [he Ci[y Manager, be paid in reimbursement therefore a[ the rate of fifty ($50) dollars per month for the first four hundred (400) miles ot such use in each calendar month and at the rate of seventeen (17C) cents per mile for each mile of such use in I excess of four hundred (400) miles in each calendar month; provided, however, that a record of all mileage for the use of personal automobiles on City business shall ~ be filed with the Department of Administrative Services on forms provided by that j Department as a prerequisite to any such reimbursement. I ~ An exception to the foregoing paragraph shall be the Building Official who ~ shall be reimbursed for use of peraonal automobiles on City business at a rate of ~ seventy-five ($75) dollars per month. A further exception to [he foregoing paragraph shall be department heads who are not assigned a City owned vehicle and for those persons previously reimbursed for use of personal au[omobiles on City business at a rate of seven[y-five ($75) ' dollars per month shall be reimbursed at the rate of seventy-five ($75) dollars per month and at the rate of seventeen (17C) cents per mile for each mile of such use in excess of fouz hundred forty-one (441) miles in each calendar month; ' provided, houever, that a record of all mileage for the use of personal automobiles on City business be filed with the Department of Administrative Services on forms ' provided by that Department as a prerequisite to any such reimbursement. Wttile recognition is given that similar or modified automobile allowance and mileaqe reinbursement schedules may be applicable to employees not eligible under the *fanagement Compensation Program, its inclusion as a policy under said Program ' is for completeness of record.
