CC Resolution No. 4596 ~ ~ II ~i RESOLUTION N0. 4596 ~ ~ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CUPERTINO DETERMININC CHARGES eV9D REGUI.ATIONS FOR C~1,YDIDATES RE- ~ QUESTING STATEMENT OF Ce1NDIDATES OR OTHER MAILINGS IN ~ CONNECTION WITH THE GENERAL PNNICIPAL ELECTION OF MARCH 7, 1918 WHEREAS, March 7, 1978, is the date set by Law for general election for two seats on the City Council; and WHERE.IS, the City Clerk must provide each candidate, at time of [aking out ~ of official nomination papers, a written scatement of charges and regulations ( connec[ed with a candidate's Statement of Qualifica[ions; ` NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by [he City Council of the City of Cupertino: Section 1. A statement may include the name, age, occupation and educatiun ~ of the candidate and a brief description of no more than 200 words of the candi- , date's qualifications as expressed by the candidate. It shall not include any reference to party affiliation nor shall it include anything which, in the opinion of the Ci[y Clerk, is obscene, vulgar, profane, scandalous, libelous or defamatory, or falls within other specific categories relating to race, color, religion or manner of worship. Section 2. Candidates will not be charged for publica[ion, [ranslation , and/or distribution of Statements of Qualificacions. The statement, if filed, is to be filed at the time the candidate files nomination papers. ~ Section 3. The City of Cupertino will not provide for mailing of other material for candidates for City Council.
