` A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CUPERTINO
SETTING FORTH A POLICY REGARDING THE INSTALLATION OF
LANDSCAPING FOR NEW PROJECTS
WHEREAS, the San Francisco Bay Area and the State of California are
currently experiencing a severe drought condition; and
WHEREAS, the supply of water has been severely affected by the lack of
seasonal rainfall; and
WHEREAS, due to the above described conditions, this Council is aware
of the need to immediately begin conserving all water resources; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has urged that water users throughout Cupertino
observe conservation practices which will eliminate water uiaste;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Cupertino has determined that additional water may be conserved by eliminating
the necessity for watering of new landscaped areas and does hereby set forth
the following policy:
Landscaping within new commercial, professional office, industrial,
recreational, and publicly sponsored pro,jects shall not be installed after the
effective date of this resolution. Future installation of said landscaping
shall be guaranteed by the posting of appropriate assurances with the City.
This policy shall remain in full effect until such time in the future as the
City Council determines that it may be rescinded.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City
of Cupertino this J~ day of March , 1977, by the following vote:
