A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CUPERTINO
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY FOR, ACCEPT AND APPROPRIATE
$600,000 1N FY 2003-04 FUNDING FROM THE STATE BICYCLE TRANSPORTATION
ACCOUNT FOR THE MARY AVENUE FOOTBRIDGE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
WHEREAS, the State Department of Transportation Bicycle Transportation Account
(BTA) annually disburses funding to eligible jurisdictions for projects that improve safety and
convenience for bicycle commuters; and
WHEREAS, the City of Cupertino desires to apply for, accept and appropriate up to
$600,000 in funding from BTA for fiscal year 2003-04 for the purpose of appropriating said
funding to Public Works Department to implement a class II commute bikeway; and
WHEREAS, the City of Cupertino will provide the required 10 percent local match for
the BTA funds; and
WHEREAS, said funding will allow the City to construct a bicycle and pedestrian
footbridge to connect existing bicycle lanes over State Freeway 280 that will create a bicycle
commuter corridor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Cupertino
hereby authorizes the City Manager to apply, accept and appropriate of FY 2003-2004 BTA
funds in the amount of $600,000 to design and construct the Mary Avenue Footbridge; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Manager, or his designee, is authorized, on
behalf of the City of Cupertino, to execute and submit all documents, payment requests, and
related actions, as well as, to appropriate any additional funds received for the completion of the
project; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that should additional funds be received for this project,
the City Manager, or his designee, is hereby authorized to accept and appropriate the same for
the purposes described above.
