A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CUPERTINO
SUPPORTING THE 1/2% SALES TAX FOR TRANSIT WHICH WILL BE
VOTED ON AT THE MARCH 2, 1976, ELECTION
WHEREAS, there has been proposed by the Santa Clara County Transportation
Agency a 1/2y sales tax in support of transit to be voted on at the March 2,
1976, election; and
WHEREAS, if approved, the revenues generated from this 1/2% sales tax
would permit a program of transit development and operation; and
WHEREAS, without the assurance of local tax revenues, the financial founda-
tion for the Transit District activities will be destroyed unless existing laws
are changed; and
WHEREAS, with the assurance of 1/2~ revenues, a significant program of bus
fleet expansion and light rail installation will be possible;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Cuper-
tino hereby goes on record as supporting the Santa Clara County Transportation
Agency and the proposed 1/2% sales tax election.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City
of Cupertino this 20th day of January, 1976, by the following vote:
