A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL 0~' THE CITY OF CUFERTINO
APPROVING MANAGIIKENT COMPENSATION POL7:CIES ~ROVIDING
COMPENSATION ADJUSTMENTS FOR CONFIDENTIAL POSITIONS
WHEREAS, employees represented through the bargaining process have
received increases in wages, a~id improvements in terms and conditions of
employment; and
WHEREAS, employees occupying positions officially designated as
Confidential have not received equivalent increases; and
WHEREA5, good personnel practice calls for an additional ad~ustment
in the conditions of employment in these positions in order to maintain
equitable relationships in the compensation of various classes;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED.that the attached policies Numbers
seven, eight, and nine of the Management Compensation Program provid~ing
necessary ad~ustments for positions designated as Confidential be approved
and their provisions implemented.
PASSID AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council of the
City of Cupertino this 16th day of Septembe~ 1974, by the following vote:

MANAGEMENT COMPENSATION PROGRAM
Policy No. 7
HBALTH BENEFIT PLANS - CONFIDENTIAL POSITIONS
It is the policy of the City of Cupertino to provide
group hospital and medical insurance under which employees
in` Confidential Positions and their dependents may be covered.
The purpose of this program is to promote and preserve the
health of employees and their families through comprehensive
health plans available only through employer sponsorship.
Although the premium cost for the insurance provided
remains the ultimate responsibility of the employee in a
Confidential Eosafson, the City shall contribute an amount
of $35.18 per employee per month towards the premium or
pay the full cost of premium if less than this amount.
Enrollment in the plan or plans made available pursuant to
this policy shall be in accordance with Personnel Rules of
the City and the provisions of the contract for such insurance
between the City and carrier or carriers. ~

Policy No. 8
HOLIDAYS AND NOP1-WORK DAYS, CONFIDENTIAL POSITIONS
It is the policy of the City of Cupertino to recognize
days of historical and national significance as holidays
of the City, providing these as non-work days without loss o~
pay or benefits wlien oBserved pursuant to the Personnel Code
Rules. Recognizing that Confidential Positions may be
required to work additional hours in support of management
objectives at times that on occasion may lie enjoyed as a
holiday or other day of rest by employees not in Confidential
Positions, it is City policy to provide approximate equivalency
for Confidential Positions at such other times conyeniex~t
to both employee and supervisor.
Employees occupying Confidential Positions shall be
provided one day per calendar year as a non-work day wi.th full
pay and ~enefits which may be taken at any time mutually
agreed upon betcaeen employee and immediate supervisor. This
additional day of rest stiall be in addition to those provided
by the Personnel Rules and shall be recorded as a holzday for
payroll~purposes.

Policy No. 9 '
LONG-TERM DISABILITY INSURANCE, CONFIDENTIAL II~4PLOYEES
It is the policy of the City of Cupertino to make
available group insurance coverage for Confidential Employees
that will mitigate the personal and family financial hardships
resulting from continuing disability that prevents an employee
from performing gain£ully in his or her occupation.
Employees occupying Confidential Positions may enroll
in the program offered if eligible under the contract provisions
of the policy and the Personnel Rules of the City. The full
cost of premiums for this insurance shall be paid by the City
for Confidential Employees.
