A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CUPERTINO
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND THE ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF
TO APPLY TO THE METROPOLITAN TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION
FOR FUNDS FROM THE TRANSPORTATION DEVELOPMENT ACT OF
1971, AS AMENDED IN 1972 AND 1973, TO CONSTRUCT FACILI-
TIES FOR THE EXCLUSIVE USE BY BICYCLES
WHEREAS, Senate Bill 821 of 1973 makes provisions for up to two percent
of the funds provided by the Transportation Development Act of 1971, as
amended in 1972 and 1973, to be made available to counties and cities for
facilities provided for the exclusive use by pedestrians and bicycles; and
WHEREAS, the Santa Clara County Transit District is currently providing
mass transit opportunities to the residents of Cupertino; and
WHEREAS, the City of Cupertino has no need of funds for mass transit; and
WHEREAS, the City of Cupertino has a comprehensive program of bicycle
facilities construction as reflected in the five year capital improvements
program;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Manager and the administrative
staff are hereby authorized to make application to the Metropolitan Transportation
Commission in behalf of the City of Cupertino for such funds.

City of Cupertino this 6th day of May, 1974, by the following vote:
