A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CUPERTINO
SUPPORTING. EFFORTS TO PROVIDE EFFECTIVE PLANNING AND
CONTROL OF.DEVELOPMENT OF THE CALIFORNIA COASTLINE BY,THE
PASSAGE OF THE CALIFORNIA.COASTAL ZONE CONSERVATION ACT
INITIATIVE IN NOVEMBER 1972
WHEREAS, the California coastline has experienced substantial abuse
of its natural resources as a result of haphazard and insensitive
development; and
WHEREAS, there is a demonstrated need to channel coastal develop-
ment for the preservation of natural beauty and guided by the
principles of wise resource use;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Cupertino support the need for accelerated action at all levels of
government to protect the public interest in the California coastline
and encourages a YES vote on the Coastal Zone Conservation Act
Initiative on the November, 1972 ballot, which provides more effec-
tive means.for State, Federal, and local governments to complement
each other in the conservation and development.of the coastline and
the coastal waters for the public good.
PASSED AND.ADOP.TED at a regular meeting of the City Council of the
City of Cupertino this 2nd day of October, 1972, by the following
vote:
AYES: Councilmen - Irwin, Jackson, Meyers, Spanks, Frolich
NOES: Councilmen - None
ABSENT: Councilmen - None
