CC Resolution No. 99-332_ RESOLUTION NO: 99-332 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CUPERTINO APPROVING REQUEST FROM SHERIFF FOR USE OF AB 3229 (BRULTE) CITIZENS' OPTION FOR PUBLIC SAFETY (COPS) PROGRAM FUNDS OF $105,811 WHEREAS, AB 3229 (Bmlte) was enacted as part of the state budget program; and WHEREAS, the bill establishes the Citizens' Option for Public Safety (COPS) program and appropriates $100 million from the state general fund for the 1999-2000 fiscal year and the City of Cupertino's per capita share is $105,811 for fiscal year 1999-2000; and WHEREAS, the COPS program provides funding for local agencies for the purpose of ensuring public safety; and WHEREAS, cities are required to appropriate COPS revenues to fund front line municipal police services which can include anti-gang and community crime prevention programs; and WHEREAS, these funds are to be appropriated pursuant to a written request from the Chief of Police or the Chief Administrator of the law enforcement agency that provides police services for that city. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Cupertino hereby approves the Sheriff's request for the expenditures of AB 3229 Citizens' Option for Public Safety (COPS) funds.
