'Ihe Fine Arts Clmmission is established. The Fine Arts ocnmission
shall consist of nirse members, none of wham shall be employees ar
officials of the City, and the nine membere shall be appointed by the City
Cauycil. At least five members shall be City of Cl~ertino residents.
Membership w311 be drawn to repmesent the Arts, citizens and business
oammmity on an appr+oodmately equal basis.
2.80.020 Members-~Tezms.
The term of office of the members oP the Ooa¢nission shall oanmex~oe
upon taking Oath of Office, three members to be appointed Par terms ending
January 15, 1990, three members appointed for terms errling January 15,
1989, atxi three mraDbe_ra for terms ending January 15, 1988. Thereafter,
the term oP office for members oP the Oamnission shall be far three years,
and shall er~d on January 15 oP the year the term is due to expire.

2.80.030 Manbers,Vacarrav or removal.
Any appointee member may be removed by a majority vote o! the City
Council.. If a vacarxy ooc~rrs other than by eucpiratian of a term, it shall
be filled by the City oQUycil~s appointment far the ta~expired portion of
the term.
2.80.040 Qra
4he Oatmi.esion shall elect its d~sirperson and vice-chairperson free
among its members and shall appoint a secretary. Terms of the c3rair and
vice-c3~air shall be far and year and shall be cxsplete a~ January 15.
Upo7t approval of the City Oouncil the City Manager may appoint a secretary
who need not be a member of the Commission.
2.80.050 Meetirras~ionm,
The Fine Arts omission shall establish a regular place of meeting
and rules of oad~lct thereof and shall hold at least and regular meeting
each month.
A majority of the Fine Arts cX.smisaicn shall constitute a quanwa far
the putr~ose of traasactirg the business of the Ctnm~ission.
2.80.060 Maiarity vote rernrired.
A majarity vote is required to approve a reoa®endation on any matter
that is presented to the Commission which requires a vote.
2.80.070 Records rern ed.
4he Catanission shall keep an accurate record of its pruc;eedi~s and
transactions aryl shall render such reports to the City Courrcit as may be

Zhe powers and ilurctions of the Fine Arts Coam-ission shall be to
foster, enoatrage and assist the realization, preservatiarr and advancement
of Fine Arts for the benefit of the citizens of Qrpertino.

To fulfill their mission the C~issioci may irsvolve itself in the
following activities:
1. Act as a catalyst far the prc~mticn of Fine Arts activities.
2. IZeep current on potential Fine Arts Activities which would be
available to the oamauiity.
3. Provide liaison bethreess various Fins Arts activities.
4. Provide a means for ooordinatias for Fine Arts g~ ar facilities
whicc3~ may exist within the oc~musity.
5. Maintain an inventory of facilities available far related Fine Arts
activities within the oommusity.
6. Provide screening asxl/ar r+aview far Fine Arts activities wishing to
obtain city fursds ar utilize public facilities.
7. Provide information to the oouumluiity relating to the Arts
8. Foster the development of public art within the oommtullty.
9. Be vigilant in explarirsg and advanairsq the range of Fins Arts
activities available to the oaaamity.
l0. Enhance the interaction betweers Arts and Busissess.
11. Any offset activity winch may be deemed appa~priate and necessary.

Members of the Fine Arts ooimaission shall serve without oanperssatiors,
but all neoessasy expestses z~easorsably incurred by them while acting in
their official capacity shill be paid by appropriate action of the City
Oourscil.
2.80.100 Effect.
Nothirsg in th{a c2lapter shall be construed a8 restricting ar
curtailirsq any powers of the City Council ar City officers.
