OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK.
SUMMARY
Agenda Item No. ~
Meeting Date: December 6. 2006
SUBJECT AND ISSUE
Accept the resignations from Steven Ting (Technology, Information and Communications
Commission) and Ann Woo (Fine Arts Commission) and direct staff to include those
unscheduled vacancies in the list of positions to be filled during Council interviews in January.
BACKGROUND
In October the City Clerk's Office began sending notices that the City Council would conduct
interviews on January 22 and 23 to fill scheduled vacancies on a number of commissions. After
that notice was given, two commissioners resigned because of conflicts in their schedules,
thereby creating two unscheduled vacancies.
Steven Ting resigned from the Technology, Information, and Communications Commission
(TIC C) effective October 23 His term was scheduled to end in Jan. 2008.
Ann Woo resigned from the Fine Arts Commission (FAC) effective November 27. Her term was
scheduled to end in January 2010.
Because there were already scheduled vacancies on these two commissions, staff posted the
unscheduled vacancies as required by law with the same application deadline, so that Council can
fill all the vacancies in the same interview process.
RECOMMENDATION:
Accept the resignations from Steven Ting and Ann Woo, and direct staff to include those
unscheduled vacancies in the list of positions to be filled during Council interviews on January
22 and 23.
