Cupertino, CA 95014 Re: Parking Lot Landscape work at: 10500 De A.nza Blvd, 20400 Mariani Avenue, and 20605 Valley Green, Cupertino, CA Aki, Apple would like to resurface and repair 3 parking lots in Cupertino on older sites. As part of the parking lot repairs, Apple would like to upgrade the parking lot landscape areas. This landscape upgrade would need to be done before the parking lot work because some trees are lifting curbs and asphalt, soine are in poor condition and some are not good choices for a parking lot condition. The existing parking lots have conditions where existing trees are lifting and breaking the existiug curbs and asphalt. We are concenied that if repairs are made now and the root problem not corrected; that the damage will occur again. The existing site had many locations where the asphalt is a tripping hazard due to the lifting by tree roots. There are also many locations where the curUs have been pushed so high that dainage to cars is possible. Proposed Landscape Design Modifications The parkuig lot repairs and landscape work is intended to do the following: 1. Repair broken and raised curbs and broken and raised asphalt 2. Repair dainage asphalt patches, slurry seal and restripe to same layout 3. Remove existing proUlem trees with root probleins or health problems 4. Plant new parking lot trees to create a cohesive design and remove future problem conditions (New trees will be a minimum of 36" box size). 5. Add a new irrigation system for the nev planting that will meet current landscape requireinents in the City 6. Phase the tree improvements to lessen the visual impact. 7. No parking lot counts will change; this is only a parking maintenance phase. 8. Larger treewells, thau exist, are being added to assure the success aud faster growth of the new trees. Conform to Arborist Report (Dated March 15, 2011): a) Adding additional recommended trees for removal and replacement; b) Keeping concrete pavers 10' away from trees on 20605 Valley Green; c) Changing Arbutus trees to `Standard' form; d) Retainiug trees #308 and 309 on 20605 Valley Green; e) extending irrigation for trees #308 and 309; Adding a 36" box tree to replace tree #425 on Mariani Ave. 10.
