A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CUPERTINO ENDORSING
FREMONT UNION IIIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT "MEASURE II"
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Cupertino recognizes that the quality of public
education in a community is a primary determinant of the quality of life in that community; and
WHEREAS, our community shares the high expectations of the Fremont Union High School
district for the educational success of its students--success that depends on high quality instructional
programs, safe and orderly learning environments, and good school facilities; and
WHEREAS, school facilities in the Fremont Union High School District are over 30 years old aad
the State of California does not provide funding for the renovation of the aging school facilities; and
WHEREAS, to complete the renovation of all its high schools, the Fremont Union High School
District Board of Education adopted as resolution dated December 9, 1997, to place $144 million bond-
"Measure H"--on the April 14, 1998, ballot; and
WHEREAS, the cost to taxpayers residing within the boundaries of the Fremont Union High
School District will be $25 per $100,000 of assessed home valuation; and
WHEREAS, if passed by two-thirds of the voters, the proceeds of the bond will be used to
renovate classrooms, add needed classrooms for enrollment growth, replace aging heating and ventilatk
systems, replace inadequate plumbing, rest rooms, and wiring, and replace leaking roofs.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Cupertino supports
the passage of"Measure H" to renovate schools in the Fremont Union High School District to continue io
