DIR-2011-02b CITY OF CUPERTINO
10300 Torre Avenue, Cupertino, California 95014 (408) 777-3308
To: Mayor and City Council Members
Chairperson and Planning Commissioners
From: Aarti Shrivastava, Director of Community Development
Prepared by: Piu Ghosh
Date: January 28, 2011
Subject: Director's Minor Modification, DIR-2011-02, to allow the replacement of an
existing entrance canopy in an existing office building located at 20300 Stevens
Creek Boulevard.
Chapter 19.132 of the Cupertino Municipal Code allows for administrative
approval of minor changes in a project. The Director reports his decision
to the City Council and Planning Commission in time to allow an appeal
of the decision within fourteen calendar days.
DISCUSSION
The applicant is requesting a modification of a previously approved Use Permit (11-U-
83) to replace and update an existing entry canopy of an office building located in a
Planned Development district at the corner of Stevens Creek Boulevard and Torre
Avenue. In accordance with the Zoning Ordinance, any changes to the exterior of a
development located in a Planned Development Zone must obtain a Director's Minor
Modification approval.
The project proposes to replace the existing canvas awning entry feature along the north
side of the building (facing Stevens Creek Boulevard) with a more modern glass and
metal entry feature. The proposed canopy upgrade is consistent with the overall
building architecture and with the other entry canopies in the office complex.
ACTION
The Director of Community Development deems the modification minor and approves
the proposed changes (see Attachment 1).
This approval of the modification is effective January 28, 2011. The fourteen calendar
day appeal period will expire on February 10, 2011.
