TO CUPERTINO CITY COUNCil, Attention The Mayor
Cupertino, California 95014
Question of Concern- CAN YOU EXPLAIN THE PARKING CITATION
POLICY IN CUPERTINO
BACKGROUND: I recently agreed to help a Cupertino lady who with others got a ticket of
$35 for "parking in a posted area" near Cupertino High School. I found that the posted
area had a sign that appeared blank due to weathering. I photographed it, wrote a letter
of appeal, and sent all to Huntington Beach, near Los Angeles.
Then r received a form letter saying there was no basis for this appeal, that I must pay my
fine within 21 days; with no name on this form, plus notice that I could "request an
in-person hearing," although no physical location was listed. This Cupertino Processing
Center seems to be basically invisible.
MY QUESTIONS ARE:
1. When and by what vote was this policy adopted?
2. How much money is derived yearly from parking fines?
3. Where, exactly, do you expect a Cupertino resident to go, and who to see, for an
"in-person hearing"?
Sincerely, thirty-year-resident,
