SUBJECT: DEAD TREE REMOVAL PERMIT ACTION LETTER - TR-2010-53:
This letter confirms the decision of the Director of Community Development, given on January
11, 2011, approving a tree removal permit to remove one dead 20" diameter Monterey Pine tree
located on the southwest corner of property located at 19191 Vallco Parkway (Apple) on the
west side of the driveway entrance. This removal is approved with the following conditions:
1. APPROVED PROTECT
This approval is based on the ISA-certified arborist report prepared by Neil Woolner
(WC-2329A) dated January 11, 2011 and titled "Tree Removals at 19191 Vallco Parkway
and 19000 Homestead Road," and by staff inspection and confirmation of the dead tree
on site, except as may be amended by conditions in this approval.
2. TREE REPLACEMENTS
The applicant shall be required to plant two (2) 24-inch box size Monterey Pine trees in
the same location as the removed Monterey Pine tree per the applicant's replanting plan
and in accordance with the City's Protected Trees Ordinance. The required replacement
trees shall be planted within 60 days of the effective approval date of this tree removal
permit.
Staff has made the findings necessary to grant the tree removal permit in accordance with
Section 14.18.140 of the Protected Trees Ordinance.

Dear Aki,
We are asking permission to remove one Monterey Pine, 20" diameter at 4.5 feet
above grade, located at 19191 Vallco Parkway. In additian, we are asking to remove two
Coast Redwoods, 29" diameter and 27" diameter above 4.5 feet above grade. At the Valtco
Parkway site, the tree is located at the southwest parking lot entrance (see site map). At
the Homestead site, the twa trees are located in the northeast parking lot, one tree adjacent
to the building and the other in the planting area adjacent to the access road (see attached
site map).
Ali three trees mentioned above are dead. They are potential hazards and should be
removed.
We have informed the owners of my findings and they have reGuested to mitigate
the hazard by removing the existing tree and having it replaced. As a result, we are
requestin� your permission to remove the tree. Please see attached documents for the
locatian of the tree, its position relative to the building, and proposed replanting
information.

Happy New Year! I've taken a look at the applications you submitted for the tree removals at 19191 Vallco Parkway and
1900 Homestead Road. The applications have the pictures attached and the dBH and tree species information, but does
not include the signed justification letter from your certified arborist explaining why the trees need to be removed and
your certified arborist's certified arborist license number.
Could you please provide these?

The removal replacements for the recently applied sites are as follows:
-Vallco: two (2) 24" box Monterey Pines
-Homestead: four (4) 24" box Coast Redwoods

Also, can you give me a timeline as to when to expect the permits to be issued?
