Meeting Minutes
1.WELCOME AND INTRODUCTIONS
Councilmember Dolly Sandoval called the meeting to order in Conference Room 100 at
City Hall, 10300 Torre Avenue, Cupertino.
2.ROLL CALL

3. OLD BUSINESS
A. Dam Plan – OES has hired a consultant to assist with the completion of the plan
before the next meeting.
4. NEW BUSINESS
A.Presentation – San Jose Water
Jim Wollbrinck presented information about San Jose Water’s service area and
disaster plans.
B.Presentation – Foothill/DeAnza Community College
Ron Levine discussed campus security and preparedness efforts.
C.Disaster Council goals – OES
Marsha Hovey distributed the City Emergency Services Ordinance and asked
members to assist with the development of goals for the Council. Ideas could
include: Developing Go Kits for members, completion of the Dam Plan,
recruiting other stakeholders for the group. All confirmed that one goal will be

completion of an updated Emergency Plan before the November 14 Golden
Guardian exercise. Marsha will email portions of the plan to members of the
Council for review.
D. Volunteer Group Reports – submitted in writing – (CERT, CARES, Block
Leader, Neighborhood Watch) – attached.
5. ANNOUNCEMENTS
A.Future Meeting Dates
July 26 (tentative) email marshah@cupertino.org if you will not be available so we
can look at alternative dates, October 25
B.Marsha Hovey – The Volunteer Center of Silicon Valley has a volunteer recruitment
website 1-800-Volunteer.org Any department or organization can log in and post
volunteer opportunities (long and short-term).
The Volunteer Center is also sponsoring the Human Race (10K, 5K run and 5K
walk/fundraiser) on May 12. Groups can sign up and get donations to raise funds for
themselves. They are also still looking for sponsors.

July 2-6 there will be 4000 student volunteers available from 1:30-4:00 (age 14-18)
for any and all service projects. Marsha will send out more information when
received.
