Meeting Minutes
1.WELCOME AND INTRODUCTIONS
Councilmember Dolly Sandoval called the meeting to order in the Community Hall,
10350 Torre Avenue, Cupertino.
2.ROLL CALL
City Staff: Ken Ericksen, David Knapp, Laura Lee, Kimberly Smith, Steffanie Turini,
City Council: Dolly Sandoval
Community Members: Fari Aberg, Nichol Bowersox, John Buckel, Mark Bugna, Terry
Calderone, Carl Dunn, Cindy Murphy, Jim Oberhofer, Ray Ramsey, Frank Vallejo
Santa Clara County Fire: Marsha Hovey
3. OLD BUSINESS
Marsha Hovey updated the council on the status of the County Dam Plan. She indicated
that County Communications is responsible for making numerous notifications due to
their ability to make one broad radio broadcast to a large group at one time. The
notification list will be reviewed to ensure adequate notification is make and a final draft
early next year.
4. NEW BUSINESS
A.Cupertino Sanitary
Nichol Bowersox presented the emergency response plan of Cupertino Sanitary
District.
B.Council Goals
Marsha Hovey requested support from the council to market educational
programs by putting fliers, etc. out that would form a unified message to the
community.
C.Volunteer Group Reports
The council was updated on the various volunteer groups and their activities.
D.Review of Monte Bello Fire Activation
Marsha Hovey reviewed the action items that resulted from the EOC activation.
5.ANNOUNCEMENTS
It was noted that the Disaster Council meeting dates for 2008 would be January 24, April
24, July 24, and October 23.
Carl Dunn announced that he would be retiring in December and will no longer be
attending the Disaster Council meetings.
