1. CALL TO ORDER
The Special Meeting of the CDBG Steering Committee was called to order at 9:10 a.m. by Chair Niki
Maroko

Present: Housing Commissioners Niki Maroko, Jessie Lin, Harvey Barnett, Jimmy Chien; CDBG Steering
Committee member Thorisa Yap and Planning Commissioner David Kaneda
Absent: Radha Kulkarni and William Sunlin

Continuation of Public hearing to consider use of eigth year program (2010 -11) Community Development
Block Grant (CDBG) funds.
Staff explained that last week the CDBG Steering Committee listened to presentations from all agencies
present at the meeting and engaged in discussion regarding the funding of two additional agencies, Maitri
Domestic Abuse Services and Santa Clara Health Foundation's Healthy Kids Program. Staff explained
that two agencies receiving funding in the past chose not to reapply this year: Emergency Housing
Consortium and Second Harvest Food Bank.
Since the CDBG Steering Committee wanted an opportunity to complete their on -line rating prior to
making the final recommendations to Council, the Committee agreed to reconvene today to make the final
recommendations.
The CDBG Steering Committee agreed to forward the following recommendations to the City Council
(adjusted for the increase in CDBG funding):
