A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CUPERTINO
SUPPORTING PACIFIC GAS AND ELECTRIC'S RELICENSING
APPLICATION FOR HYDROELECTRIC FACILITIES
WHEREAS, the City of Cupertino is on record in support of HR 4402,
the Electric Consumers' Protection Act of 1983, and similar Senate
Legisiation S 2710; and
WHERAS, new legislation identical with the foregoing has been in-
troduced in the 99th Congress; and
WHEREAS, this new legislation, HR 44 and S 426, will clarify the
intent of the Federal Power Act in regard to the application of "preference"
at the time of hydroelectric plant relicensing; and
WHEREAS, enactment of this legislation will benefit 10,000,000 electric
consumers throughout northern California and electric consumers throughout
the nation in ensuring utilization of hydroelectric resources for the benefit
of the greatest number of people;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Cupertino urges the
House of Representatives to pass HR 44 and the U.S. Senate to pass S 426; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be sent to local
Congressional representatives and to U.S. Senators Alan Cranston and Pete
Wilson.

City of Cupertino this 6th day of MaY , 1985 by the following
