Termination Effective: Page 6 and win by a slim margin. As recent election reminds us, narrow wins become narrow losses in about one week. Conservatives have to learn how to win big enough to overcome the left's rty tricks and the ridiculously biased media. Leadership Ins itute training makes that happen. LI's founder Morto Blackwell has the knowledge and experience to help conse vatives get the job done. Morton has served as a key leader in the conservative movement ever since it gok started. He was the youngest e ected Republican National Convention delegate for Barry Goldwate back in 1964. Later he helped conservative candidates get elected with even worse odds than we face today. And he led the inning Youth for Reagan national effort in 1980. Morton went on to work in kthe Reagan White House for three years. Then he moved to the Lership Institute full-time to devote all his efforts to traig conservatives how to win. Morton learned a lot from Ronald Reagan -- and has the same "happy warrior" spirit as the Gipp r. Yes, Ronald Reagan is my favorite president, too. (George Washington was pretty good, but he my had to beat the military of the greatest power on Earth at the time. Reagan had to beat America's liberals.) As a young person growing up in \he `80s, Reagan was the bomb. But too many of today's consertive lesders think they can win by parroting Reagan, circa 19. It's not the 1980s anymore! Reaga kept his promises, won the Cold War, slushed taxes`, and set this nation 'on a half century of peace and prosperity. Soviet communism and taxes aren't the ig problems facing our nation- .anymore. (Thank you, Ronald Rea an.) There is no Soviet Union to defeat. How do tax cuts heI if you don't have a job? If conservative leaders want to win now, hey can't just keep saying the same old things the same old wa s. They have to learn how to craft new, winning messages about City ot cupwbw Lit ROV*a#on & Repw*V Pop 7 of 8 Print Name Title - Signature Executed on: WA (month, day, year) ATTACliMNTS 47 / have reviewed the lobbyist guidelines and I have nothing to report, Attached to this Report is/are the following: (if additional space is needed, attach additional pages with responses to e" of the above disclosure categories) FEES DUE (CIVIC 2.100.080 and see Fee Schedule A ® General) Lobbyist Registration Fee* (January 1- December 31) $ Delinquent Fee $ Total Payment Due With Report $ Registration fee Deldplquent Fees $178.96 $25 per day with a max of $500 Make checks payable to: City of Cupertino Send Forms and Peyment to® City of Cupertino City Clerk's Office 10300 Torre Avenue Cupertino, CA 95014 NOTE: We fees wM apply to any lahbft y not reps Qfter the 15 days of qualifying as a krbbylst *Initlai registration fee is due within 15 days after qualifying as a lobbyist VERIFICATIDIU I certify that 1 have been authotted by the Lobbyist identified above to make this rredfkation. Page 3 elected conservatives. You and I will have to roll up our sleeves and take matters into our own hands. Not necessarily by running for office ourselves. God bless you if you want to run (just please take a Leadership Institute training session first!) What I hav in mind instead is to improve the quality of conservative can idates and campaigners. That requires real training. Teaching them ow to avoid saying stupid things. How to escape ambushes from a media that sees their No. 1 mission as dirtying up conserva ives. How to put together a winning message. How to run good campaign and not be scammed by idiot "GOP campaign consulta ts." In short: How to bekt the left. Thankfully there's hor* on that front. That hope comes from my friends at a great organization called the Leadership Institu a (or LI for short). I think that after reading more about what the Leadership Institute is doing to train new onservative leaders, you'll get on board and support them. Believe me, friend -- supportilng the Leadership Institute would be one of the smartest investor nts you could make for the future of our country. Rather than giving to yet more can idates who will let us down, you could invest wisely to improve the quality as well as the quantity of conservatives who aim fo high office. The Leadership Institute and I go way ack. Before I became editor of the Cornell Review during college days, I enrolled in one of LI's special training scho ls. That training helped me enormously in reporting facts and e aging liberals (by reporting facts). More recently, the LI team sponsored me to go out and speak to students at college campuses across the country -- and there's no one more fun than a college conservative.
