At 6:04 p.m. Vice Chair Sidharth Rajaram called the Regular Public Safety Commission meeting
to order at the Quinlan Conference Room, 10185 North Stelling Road and via Teleconference.
ROLL CALL
Present: Vice Chair Sidharth Rajaram and Commissioners Ravi Kiran Singh Sapaharam and
Gregory Klein. Absent: None.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Recommended Action: Review and approve the January 8, 2026 Public Safety

MOTION: Rajaram moved and Sapaharam seconded to approve the January 8, 2026 Public

Captain Neil Valenzuela from Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office introduced Detective
William Battaglia from Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office who gave a presentation.
Commissioners asked questions, which were answered by staff and the presenter.

The Commission received the presentation by the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office.

4. Subject: Presentation on Preventing AI Related Scams and Fraud - CONTINUED

MOTION: Sapaharam moved and Rajaram seconded to recommend that the City Council
advance and prioritize awareness and education on scam and fraud prevention,
particularly for seniors, while deferring additional initiatives to the City Council. The
motion carried with the following vote: Ayes: Rajaram, Sapaharam, and Klein. Noes: None.

7. Subject: Monthly Update Reports

District and Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office

STAFF AND COMMISSION REPORTS
Block Leader Coordinator Marta Drown reported on volunteer activities, personal emergency
preparedness training, staff activities and program promotion for AlertSCC and Genasys, the
upcoming Wildfire Preparedness Workshop, as well as the response to a virus outbreak associated
with a cruise ship.
Commissioner Klein reported on a mock search and rescue event hosted by Cupertino Amateur
Radio Emergency Service (CARES), Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), and Medical
Reserve Corps (MRC) volunteers in the neighborhood and at City Hall, which also included a book
sale at City Hall.

• Receive materials from the Sheriff’s Office to share on AI safety (Rajaram)
