As a Cupertino resident, I am writing to express my deep disappointment regarding the recent
informational memo issued by the Parks and Recreation Director. Many of us have worked
diligently with both the department and staff to develop solutions that balance the interests of
local residents and the pickleball community.
The introduction of a mandate that negatively impacts only the pickleball community is
discouraging and damages the trust and goodwill that constituents have worked hard to build
with our local government.
I recently observed contractors measuring the courts for sound walls, which are expected to
alleviate the majority of noise-related concerns. This project is already included in the budget;
therefore, I respectfully ask the Council to approve the proposed $150,000 budget for the
sound reduction project at Cupertino Memorial park.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
