The expansion is a 5,600 square foot, two-story addition with large multi-purpose rooms that expand the library’s programming capabilities and provide a much-needed resource for the community. “My colleagues on the Cupertino City Council and I are pleased to bring this process to completion and honored to present this space to the community,” said Mayor Darcy Paul. “Thank you to the many supporters who throughout the years stood with us to ensure that a much-loved and highly utilized public amenity has meeting space that matches the commitment to a high-quality exchange of ideas reflective of the public patronage of our Library.” Congressman Ro Khanna helped support the Library Expansion Project by securing $1 million in federal funding. The Cupertino Library’s popularity is unmatched as the most frequented branch of the Santa Clara County Library District. The library is expected to serve nearly a million visitors annually in the coming years. The additional space will allow the library to continue fulfilling its mission of encouraging life-long learning and self- improvement. Visitors will be able to view and access the new rooms in the expansion area by attending a Cupertino Library event located in Community Rooms 101 or 201. Information on upcoming events can be found at sccld.org/events/cupertino. These community rooms are anticipated to be available for public reservations starting in late May. More information and policies regarding library reservations can be found at sccld.org/book-a-room/.
