Apple Computer Announces Second Cupertino Campus
Steve Jobs announced a second Apple Campus at a Cupertino city council meeting last night.
On Thursday, April 20, 2006, at 1 P.M., Vice Mayor Kris Wang will hold a news conference at Cupertino
City Hall to discuss the announcement of Apple Computer’s expansion in Cupertino.
Steve Jobs announced at a regular meeting of the Cupertino city council on Tuesday, April 18, that Apple
Computer had acquired commercial property within the city of Cupertino where a second Apple campus
would be built.
“Our business has basically tripled in the last 5 or 6 years. We’ve gone ahead and acquired …9 separate
properties, and by putting these together we can make approximately a 50-acre campus,” said Jobs.
Jobs announced that Apple’s plan is to take down existing buildings and put up more efficient structures.
Designs, approvals, and construction are expected to take three to four years. 3,000 to 3,500 Apple
employees are expected to be employed at the new site.
“Cupertino and Apple have been synonymous with innovation and education.” Said Vice Mayor Kris Wang
following Jobs’ announcement. “We are pleased to have Apple make this investment in our community.”
