PROPERTY OWNER: Gene Lacey APPLICANT: Cal Coast Sign Company (McWhorter's) ADDRESS: 845 Reed Street, Santa Clara, California 95050 LOCATION OF PROPERTY: Northwest corner of Scofield Drive and South De Anza Boulevard ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Architectural and Site Approval Committee makes the following findings with respect to this application: 1. That the dimensional characteristics of the proposed ground sign as shown on Exhibit F-1 1st Revision is consistent with constraints specified in Section 6.03.3 and 6.03.5 of the draft Sign Ordinance. 2. That the Committee recognizes that the sign location as specified on Exhibit F 1st Revision is not consistent with Criteria A of Section 6.03.3 of the draft Sign Ordinance which requires that a ground sign be located on that portion of the site which has at least 150 ft. of street frontage. SUBCONCLUSIONS: (a) The De Anza Boulevard frontage of the project measures approximately 147 ft. (b) The Committee finds that the intent of the Sign Ordinance is to orient advertising structures toward commercial corridors and away from residential neighborhoods. If the subject sign were located according to the above - referenced ordinance criteria said sign would be directly visible from the residential district on Scofield Drive. CONDITIONS OF APPROVAL: 1-7. Architectural and Site Approval Standard Conditions to the extent that they do not conflict with the special conditions enumerated herein. In the event a conflict does exist, the special conditions as enumerated herein shall apply. 8. This approval is based on Exhibits F 1st Revision and F-1 1st Revision except as modified by special conditions contained in this Resolution No. 691. 9. Lighting intensity of the approved ground sign shall be subject to review upon receipt of complaint by the City of Cupertino of lighting intrusion into adjacent properties or the public right of way. 10. The future tenant sign portion of the approved ground sign as shown on Exhibit F-1 1st Revision shall be covered with an opaque panel, colored to match the wooden trim of the sign supporting structure. -1- HC -51,380.2 RESOLUTION NO. 691 (continued) PASSED AND ADOPTED this 17th day of February, 1977, at the adjourned regular meeting of the Architectural and Site Approval Committee of the City of Cupertino, State of California, by the following roll call vote: AYES: Committee Members: Bond, Claudy, Irvine, Ripplinger, Chairwoman Sallan NAYS: None ABSTAINING: " None ABSENT: 11 U None ATTEST: APPROVED: /41 ,t Mar Caughey C.
