Meeting called to order at 7:15 p.m. by Vice -Chairman Ripplinger with the Salute to the Flag. ROLL CALL Present: Members - Irvine, Johnson, Vice -Chairman Ripplinger Absent: Members - Bond, Sallan Staff present: Kathryn McKenna Scott, Planning Intern APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Regular Meeting - September 21, 1978 - Approved as corrected POSTPONEMENTS: Item #2 of Vallco Park, Ltd. (Valico Village Center - to ASAC meeting of October 19, 1978) COMMUNICATIONS: None PUBLIC HEARING: 1. Application HC -51,410.3 - Apple Computer, Inc. (Lazaneo Investment) requesting approval of a single -tenant ground sign for an industrial building located at the northeast corner of Lazaneo Drive and Bandley Drive. Presentation: Stephen Coulthard, Amcoe Sign Company The Committee ascertained that the proposed ground sign would not utilize any lighting devices. Vice -Chairman Ripplinger requested comments from the audience; there were none forthcoming. The Committee had no concerns with the application and approved it as submitted. Member Irvine moved to approve Application HC -51,410.3, :with Member Johnson's second subject to conditions contained Resolution No. 846. Motion carried 3-0. INFORMAL REVIEW OF PLANNED DEVELOPMENT USE PERMIT APaLICATION: Application 20-U-78 - B.A.S. Homes, Inc. (Catholic Church Property) The Committee expressed a concern regarding the proposed street system in that it creates an awkward northern parcel on the Roman Catholic Church site. They questioned the type of future land use that would exist in that location. Further, the Committee voiced some concern pertaining to the significant density level proposed for Parcels 20, 21 and 22. It was felt that these relatively small parcels would not achieve the low -density impact desirable in hillside areas. -1- HC -226 Minutes of October 5, 1978 A.S.A.C. Meeting (continued) It was suggested by the Committee that fences should not encroach into the vicinity of Heney Creek. It was also noted that the B.A.S. Homes landscaping along De Anza Boulevard had not yet commenced; staff was directed to research this subject. NEW BUSINESS: Application HC -51,333.14 (Michael Del Monaco Restaurant - Landscaping) This application was first considered at the August 10, 1978 ASAC meeting; the applicant was directed to return to the Committee informally for final landscaping plan approval. The Committee expressed approval of the revised landscape plan presented by staff, provided that the De Anza Boulevard frontage materials somewhat reflect the landscaping theme exemplified by the adjacent Chinese Restaurant south of the subject site. Vice -Chairman Ripplinger reported on the contents of the Mayor's luncheon meeting.
