',he meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM by Chainmaian Mann who led the
pledge of allegiance.

ITEM 1) APPLICATION ASAC 51 734.1 -- CUPERI'INO CAMBER OF ODI"IMEECE:
Requesting approval of a sign program for an existing caIm ercial
building located on the north side of Silverado Avenue at 20455

INFORMAL REVIEW OF USE PERMIT APPLICATION:
I'IM 2) APPLICATION 40-U-87 -- JAMES H. SISK:
Requesting approval of a use permit to allow construction of a
two-story, 3750 square foot office/residential building located on the east side of Pasadena Avenue, approximately 75 feet north
of Granada Avenue. 10060 Pasadena Avenue.
PRESENTATION: -Jim Sisk, Applicant
DISCUSSION:
Mr. Sisk presented the proposal to the Committee. Staff
clarified that final colors could be approved by ASAC prior to
occupancy of the building. Mr. Sisk stated that the colors would
be the same as the Bryan/Watkins building. Committee members
supported the application.
INFORMAL REVIEW:
ITEM 3) APPLICATION ASAC 21 -IM --86 -- THRUST IV, INC:
Requesting informal approval of a landscape plan for a previously
approved residential subdivision on the westerly side of Foothill
Boulevard at Salem Avenue.

DISCUSSION:
Staff explained that the tentative map condition requires
substantial cc pliance between the Thrust IV landscaping and the
BAS Homes lax scaping.
Imo'. Lapidus presented plant material lists which compared the
subject landscaping to the adjoining properties. He also
presented photographs of the site. In response to a question
from Member Jackson, Mr. Lapidus stated that the Public Works
Department will be responsible for maintaining the landscaping.
Member Jackson asked staff to determine who maintains the BAS
Hanes slopes. Staff will respond at the next meeting.
In response to questions from the Committee, staff stated that
the Public -Works Department was given a copy of the subject
plan. Public Works will also review the irrigation plans.
FORMAL REVIEW:
ITEM 4) APPLICATION ASAC 51,624.12 — COPY MART:
Requesting approval of a ground sign for a tenant within the
Arbor Professional Center located on the north side of Stevens
Creek Boulevard, west of Blaney Avenue. 20065 Stevens Creek
Boulevard.
PRESENTATION: Donna Alvis, Applicant
Jody Utter, Applicant
DISCUSSION:
Ms. Alvis explained that customers have difficulty finding the
shop and visibility is necessary to maintain the business. She
stated that the landlord will not place the shop name on the
ground sign. Further, the tenant names on the ground sign are
too small. Staff confirmed that the tenant letters are
approximately four to five inches in height.
Chairwanan Mann told the applicants that the City encourages low
profile signage along the Stevens Creek Boulevard corridor.
Member Miller observed that ASAC is having difficulty
establishing sign limitations for mixed -use complexes. He
believed that the applicants should try to propose a
building mounted sign. The C rrnittee concurred with Member
Miller.

DEVELOPMENT:
Requesting approval of a modification to an existing sign program
for the City Center office ccuplex located at the southwest
corner of Torre Avenue and Stevens Creek Boulevard. 20330
Stevens Creek Boulevard.
PRESENTATION: Jim Golden, Sign Representative
DISCUSSION:
The applicant stated that the site plan mistakenly showed two
ground signs along the Torre Avenue frontage. Mr. Golden
confirmed that only one ground sign was requested.

ITEM 6) APPLICATION ASAC 51,736.1 — PIZZA HUT (ACME-WILEY CORPORATION)•
Requesting approval of a sign program for an existing restaurant
building located on the south side of Stevens Creek Boulevard,
approximately 1,450 feet west of De Anza Boulevard. 20770
Stevens Creek Boulevard.
PRESENTATION: Dan Boyle, Applicant
DISCUSSION:
Mr. Boyle briefed the Committee on the application. He stated
that a third building mounted sign was requested to define the
principal entryway. The third sign also displays a red roof
which symbolizes the Pizza Hit chain. Member Jackson noted that
the sign ordinance would allow the sign if it was less than two
square feet in area and was unilluminated.
The Committee suggested that the red roof graphic be placed on
the northerly side of the building Mr. Boyle stated that it was
not possible due to copyright limitations. By consensus, the
C=ittee decided not to approve the third wall sign. The
Committee added a condition allowing a permanent window sign
provided it conforms to the Sign Ordinance.
