DISCUSSION:
With the Applicant's consent, the Committee agreed to hear Items

the committee could find no demonstrable relationship between the
sign's proposed height and traffic safety.
Committee members expressed concern about the price display copy
size limitations contained in the newly-amerxied Sign Code.
Several members found the display limitations unduly restrictive
in legibility or motorists.
DECISION:
In accordance with the Applicant's request, the Conunittee voted
to continue Item 3 & 4 to the regular meeting of July 13, 1987.
The Applicant was directed to redesign in accordance with a

ITEM 5 (Can't.)
MemberChapman proposed an interpretation which f l r s that the
individual elements of the sign message are consistent with the
sign program dimensional constraints. Stacking of the individual
components is necessary to ac c date an unusual architectural
feature; therefore, the sign is consistent with approved sign
program. Other Committee Members agreed with this
interpretation.

PRESENTATION: Tom Willyoung, Applicant
DISCUSSION:
Staff suggested that the sign face be modified to emphasize the
street address and reduce the letter size by 50% for the tenant
message. Member Nobel questioned the need for the "Stevens Creek
Blvd." portion of the display, and suggested that the street
number alone be emphasized. The applicant requested that the
Cruise Holiday message remain at the proposed 611 letter height.
The Committee proposed that the tenant copy be reduced to 411 in
height and that greater separation be provided between the tenant
copy and address display.
