ITEM 3) APPLICATION ASAC 51,750.1 -- DIVANI CONTEMPORARY FURNITURE
(MIKE AGUILERA): Requesting approval of an exception to a
previously approved sign program for a retail/office center
located on the north side of Stevens Creek Boulevard
approximately 500 feet east of De Anza Boulevard. 20343 Stevens
Creek Boulevard.
PRESENTATION: Zev Cywan Divan!, Divan! Contemporary Furniture
DISCUSSION:
Mr. Divan! modified the submitted request to include a 24 inch
letter height for the "Divan!" in Sign B. He felt the store name
would look short and squat at an 18 inch height.
Chairwoman Mann noted visibility of the store was similar to that
of any store with a flat facia and did not constitute a unique
circumstance justifying a second wall sign.
Several members expressed concern that approval of a larger
letter size would establish a precedent. Member Young Gong
cartmented on the importance of maintaining consistency throughout
the center. He pointed out the facia was split into two
horizontally. He felt 18 inch letters scaled correctly on the
facia.
The Committee discussed the difficulty of visualizing the
requested sign, particularly in regards to its relationship to
the rest of the center.
DECISION:
THE C TIDE CONTINUED APPLICATION ASAC 51,750.1 TO NOVEL 9,
1987. THE APPLICANT WAS DIRECTED TO SU TIT TWO 1/4 INCH SCALE
ELEVATION DRAWINGS OF THE BUILDING FACIA, ONE WITH 'THE 18 INCH

OF THE ADJOINING TENANT SPACE SHOULD BE INCLUDED WITH A MOCK SIGN
ILLUSTRATED ON THE FACIA. THE SIGN OVER THE DOOR SHOULD BE
'FT 02 ATED. THE COfl`1MITTEE DID NOT HAVE ANY OBJECTIONS TO THE
BLACK TRIM CAP.
