HomeMy WebLinkAboutASAC Minutes - 11-12-1987SUMMARY MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE ARCHITECTURAL AND SITE APPROVAL COMMITTEE OF THE CITY OF CUPERTINO FOR NOVEMBER 12, 1987. MEETING HELD IN THE SECOND FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM IN TEMPORARY CITY HALL AT 10430 S. DE ANZA BOULEVARD, CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA The meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM by Chairwoman Mann. ROLL CALL: Present Members: Baca, Gong, Miller, and Chairwoman Mann Absent Members: Jackson Staff Present: Randy Tsuda, ASAC Coordinator FORMAL REVIEW: ITEM 1) APPLICATION 28-U-80 (AMENDED) DIGITAL EQUIPMENT CORPORATION (COMPETROL REAL ESTATE LIMITED): Requesting approval of a new gas storage enclosure, modifications to an existing storage enclosure area, and associated site modifications for an office/industrial building. Site is located at the terminus of Ridgeview Court, adjacent to Highway 280. 10500 Ridgeview Court. PRESENTATION: Rodney Heft, Applicant's Representative DISCUSSION: Mr. Heft pointed out that many of the existing trees in front of the storage area were deciduous. Staff expressed a preference for additional evergreen trees in front of the new gas storage area to create a continuous vegetative screen. In response to a question from Member Gong, Mr. Heft pointed out the location of the new screen wall addition. He explained that the wall will utilize fiberglass panels and that all colors and materials for this project will be consistent with present facilities. DECISION: BY UNANIMOUS VOTE, THE COMMITTEE APPROVED APPLICATION 28-U-80 (AMENDED) PER THE FINDINGS AND CONDITIONS CONTAINED WITHIN RESOLUTION NO. 1332. ITEM 2) APPLICATION ASAC 51.753.1 -- GRAND DAD LIQUORS (K.S. GILL): Requesting approval of permanent window signs for a liquor store within an existing shopping center located at the northwest corner of Bollinger Road and Blaney Avenue. 10885 S. Blaney Avenue. DISCUSSION OF THIS ITEM WAS POSTPONED UNTIL LATER IN THE MEETING AS THE APPLICANT WAS NOT PRESENT. GILL): Requesting approval of permanent window signs for a liquor store within an existing shopping center located at the northwest corner of Bollinger Road and Blaney Avenue. 10885 S. Blaney Avenue. PRESENTATION: Applicant was not present Member Baca questioned staff on precedents for window signage applications. Staff stated that there were no previous cases specifically for liquor stores but the Committee had approved permanent window signage previously. The consensus of the Committee was that the store was located far from the street; thus, visibility will not be a problem. BY UNANIMOUS VOTE, THE COMMITTEE APPROVED APPLICATION ASAC 51,753.1 PER THE FINDINGS AND CONDITIONS CONTAINED WITHIN RESOLUTION NO. 1334. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: BY UNANIMOUS VOTE, THE COMMITTEE APPROVED THE MINUTES AS PUBLISHED ADJOURNMENT: Having concluded its business, the Architectural and Site Approval Committee adjourned at 7:50 PM to November 23, 1987 at 7:00 PM in Conference Room 160-170 of Temporary City Hall at 10430 S. De Anza Boulevard.
