HomeMy WebLinkAboutBPC 02-18-2026 MinutesMINUTES CUPERTINO BICYCLE PEDESTRIAN COMMISSION Wednesday, February 18, 2026 At 7:00 p.m. Chair Gerhard Eschelbeck called the Regular Bicycle Pedestrian Commission meeting to order at the Quinlan Conference Room, 10185 North Stelling Road and via teleconference. ROLL CALL Present: Chair Gerhard Eschelbeck, Vice Chair Munisekaran Madhdhipatla, and Commissioners Ilango Ganga, Hervé Marcy and Joel Wolf. Absent: None. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1.Subject: January 29, 2026 Bicycle Pedestrian Commission minutes Recommended Action: Approve the January 29, 2026 Bicycle Pedestrian Commission Minutes MOTION: Madhdhipatla moved and Marcy seconded to approve the January 29, 2026 Bicycle Pedestrian Commission minutes. The motion carried with the following vote: Ayes: Eschelbeck, Madhdhipatla, Ganga, Marcy, Wolf. Noes: None. Abstain: None. Absent: None. POSTPONEMENTS OLD BUSINESS 2.Subject: Cupertino Active Transportation Plan Recommended Action: Review and Provide Feedback on Prioritized Project List for Cupertino Active Transportation Plan. Transit and Transportation Planner Matt Schroeder introduced the item. Commissioners asked questions which staff responded to. MOTION: Eschelbeck moved and Madhdhipatla seconded to approve the ATP draft materials as presented today, with the following set of modifications: 1. Address the inequality or imbalance between ranking of projects in the ATP and the Cupertino Vision Zero high injury network by reducing the max score for being on a safe route to school to 10 for all three matrices, reducing the goal max score for access from 30 to 20 and increase HIN max scoring to 30. 2. Eliminate 1.25 modifier by making balance in bicycle matrix to a negative score. 3. Consider ATP project clustering as appropriate for future ATP updates. The motion carried with the following vote: Ayes: Eschelbeck, Madhdhipatla, Ganga, Marcy, Wolf. Noes: None. Abstain: None. Absent: None. 3. Subject: Torre Ave/Town Center Lane Pedestrian Crossing (Dullu) Recommended Action: Receive Presentation and Make Recommendations for Torre Ave/Town Center Lane Pedestrian Crossing Assistant Engineer Prashanth Dullu gave a presentation. Commissioners asked questions which staff responded to. Chair Eschelbeck opened the public comment period and, seeing no one, closed the public comment period. MOTION: Eschelbeck moved and Marcy seconded to approve the proposed improvements to the Torre Avenue Pedestrian Crossing with the following recommendations: 1. Additional striping marking in pedestrian refuge islands at Torre Ave/Town Center Ln. 2. Consider illuminated pedestrian warning signs to supplement RRFB at Torre Ave/Pacific Ave. The motion carried with the following vote: Ayes: Eschelbeck, Madhdhipatla, Ganga, Marcy, Wolf. Noes: None.
