HomeMy WebLinkAboutASAC Reso 832HC -51,436.2 RESOLUTION NO. 832 OF THE ARCHITECTURAL AND SITE APPROVAL COMMITTEE OF THE CITY OF CUPERTINO RECOMMENDING APPROVAL OF A SIGN PROGRAM FOR A MULTI -TENANT COMMERCIAL BUILDING CONSISTING OF ONE FREESTANDING STRUCTURE IN EXCEPTION TO SECTION 6.03.3 OF ORDINANCE 746 PERMITTING A FREESTANDING SIGN ON A LOT WHICH DOES NOT MEET THE "20O -RULE" CRITERIA. PROPERTY OWNER: Chrisman Taylor Development Company APPLICANT: Pettibone Signs ADDRESS: 15 Janis Way, Santa Cruz, California 95066 LOCATION OF PROPERTY: 20100 Stevens Creek Boulevard ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ FINDINGS: The Architectural and Site Approval Committee finds as follows with respect to this application: 1. Consistent with provisions of Section 11.01 of Ordinance 746, the requested exception will reduce practical difficulties for the public, and provide for identification consistent with the purposes and intent of said ordinance for the subject business. a. Practical difficulties will be reduced for the citizen attempting to locate the subject business by providing a means of identity which distinguishes the individual character of that business from adjoining land uses, consistent with Criteria 4 and 5 of Section 1.03.2, of Ordinance 746. b. The proposed ground sign design is approved in lieu of individual tenant wall signs, thus reducing visual clutter of the streetscape which is consistent with the intent of signing in the City of Cupertino as declared in Section 1.03.1 and Section 1.03.3a of Ordinance 746. CONDITIONS OF APPROVAL: 1-8. Architectural and Site Approval Standard Conditions to the extent that they do not conflict with the special conditions enumerated herein. In the event a conflict does exist, the special conditions as enumerated herein shall apply. 9. That the recommendation of approval is based on Exhibit F 2nd Revision of this application except as may be amended by special conditions contained herein. 10. Wall signs for individual tenants shall be limited to one (1) business name/ address plaque adjacent to the doorway of each business, not to exceed 3 sq. ft. in area and not illuminated. The purpose of said sign is to enable the public to locate individual entries within the complex. -1- EC -5l, 436.2 RESOLUTION NO. 832 (continued) 11. Final location of ground sign structure is subject to staff approval. 12. The Architectural and Site Approval Committee or its staff shall retain authority to review lighting intensity of any sign approved under this application following installation, and to require correction of off -site intrusion impacts.
